The Title Was “Mom.” The Identity Is Mine.
Started my family at 19, married at 21, separated right before my 30th birthday and became a single mom of four. Wasn’t interested in sharing my life without anyone else until I met the love of my life and remarried. My kids are now all adults – two just graduated from their respective schools. I made it! We made it! And even with all of life’s setbacks and lemons, we’re still doing in and moving forward. I’m very proud that I’ve mastered the art of “no”.
Without this, or the ability to set boundaries, I cannot achieve what I’m setting out to do. I have one goal and one goal only – to leave a family legacy that changes the world for future generations.
I’m hyper focused. I went through divorce. I’ve raised my kids. What do I need to do to become “Lin” the person or brand vs “Lin” the mom. “Mom” or “single mom” is a title and you have a role. I’m proud of my kids and who they’ve become but like any other job title, “Mom” is not what defines me.
This Isn’t the End. It’s the Launch.
We’re not old lol. So many women I know hit 40 and they think their life is over or it’s too late to start anything new. Are you kidding me? Life’s just getting started. You have plenty of time left but at the same time, tomorrow isn’t promised. Use these days to put the pedal to the metal on work on the things that need to get done.
