My name is María de los Ángeles, but most people call me Mariló. I was born and raised in Venezuela, where I learned from a young age the importance of independence, but also the value of family. For me, family is at the heart of everything; they are my support system and the driving force behind all I do. Thanks to their strength, I’ve been able to face every challenge that comes my way.
In 2015, I moved to Canada to plant new family roots in this country. Immigrating hasn’t been easy, but I’ve learned to see each challenge as an opportunity to grow and learn. Without falling into unrealistic optimism, I always try to find the silver lining in every experience, meeting hard moments with resilience and gratitude.
As I approached my 40s, I realized that this “dreaded age” I once imagined was not an ending, but a new beginning. I’ve come to see that the 40s are a powerful time—a moment to stand up for ourselves, to set boundaries, and to let the world know that a woman of this age is only just beginning to live her best years. I no longer live under the weight of “what will people say?”; my priority now is my happiness and inner peace.
